Drilling Activity for Thursday, August 27, 2009
Well: APS Cholla Pilot CO2 Well
Rig: Bearcat Rig 2
Activity:  Drilling in Basement Formation
Drilling continued from 3,691 ft to 3,853 ft at an average rate of penetration of 13 ft/hr. A short trip was made to the casing shoe and the workstring was lowered to the bottom of the wellbore. A bridge in the open-hole section was tagged and was washed through. No fill was observed on bottom. The wellbore was circulated until fluid returns were clean and the inclination survey tool was dropped through the workstring. The workstring was retrieved from the wellbore and the survey tool was recovered (3/4 deg at 3,829 ft). Schlumberger wireline equipment was rigged up to run open-hole logs.
Observations
  • Daily activities summarized to 6:00 a.m. August 28.
  • The total depth of 3,853 ft was selected based on casing tally measurements
  • Drilling Fluid Properties: Mud weight = 10.2 lb/gal; Plastic viscosity = 7 cp; Yield point = 16 lb/100 ft2; Filter loss = 4.7 cc/30 min.
  • Chlorides = 117,000 ppm; Solids = 4.5%.
  • Samples are 100% granite wash at total depth.

Drilling Activity for Friday, August 28, 2009
Well: APS Cholla Pilot CO2 Well
Rig: Bearcat Rig 2
Activity: Open Hole Logging

Logging tools were lowered into the wellbore to 3,808 ft – unable to lower tools past ledge in open hole. A total of four open hole wireline logging runs were conducted, with the following formation evaluation services performed:

Observations
  • Platform Express (GR-SP-Cal-Resistivity-Density Porosity-Neutron Porosity) from 3,806 ft to 956 ft.
  • Combinable Magnetic Resonance Log from 3,806 ft to 2,600 ft.
  • Hostile Natural Gamma Rap Spectroscopy and Elemental Capture Sonde Log from 3,806 ft to 958 ft.
  • Formation Micro Imager from 3,700 ft to 2,000 ft.
  • Sonic Scanner Log from 3,700 ft to 958 ft.
  • A total of 25 rotary sidewall cores were collected from various intervals in the borehole.
